Glenfinnan Brewery

The coveted title of 'local brewery' for The Grog & Gruel. A small 4 barrel brewery that's been in production since late 2006. Popular with visitors and locals alike.

The Standard Ale - 4.2%.

A mid brown, well hopped (bitter) ale brewed using a selection of North American aromatic hops and British Pale and Crystal malts to give it a distinctive "nose" and taste.

The name "The Standard Ale" commemorates Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) raising the Jacobite Standard at Glenfinnan on 19 August 1745.

Glenfinnan Gold - 4.0%.

As the name suggests, a yellowish/gold ale brewed with summer in mind from a variety of malts and a blend of Cascade and First Gold hops to give a tangy refreshing bitterness.

The name "Gold Ale" reflects both its colour and the £4,000 (present value many millions of £) of gold which went missing near Glenfinnan during the Jacobite rebellion of 1745 - 1746.
