Employment Opportunities - Chefs & Catering Assistants

Since opening The Grog and Gruel's reputation for food has been every bit as good as our reputation for great beer. With a turnover to put some city centre restaurants to shame, joining our catering team will give you a unique insight into an extremely busy and successful food trade.

If you already have some experience and would like an opportunity to build on this as an assistant to our Head Chef, or simply fancy learning more about working with food preparation then we would like to hear from you. We have a structured training plan, with detailed specifications for all items produced within the kitchen. Depending on the level of your previous experience (if any) you will usually start by helping with prep during the day and the more simple aspects of service. As your confidence and familiarity grows you may aspire to producing individual plated meals on your own or playing a key role in the busy evening service. And when you've finally cracked it we'll let you loose your own as you call your way through anything up to 100 plated meals within a few hours.

We believe in good honest food produced in a good honest way. We work to tight specifications and are very conscious of margins. We don't see the need to use strange French terminology, but we do see the need to set and meet high standards. It is important that we satisfy our discerning regular customers, the transient summer tourist on a budget and the ravenous climber just back from a grueling day on Ben Nevis. Not easy when its all from the same menu!

Positions are available on a seasonal and year round basis with applications considered throughout the year regardless of your experience.
